Location

Grimsay is a small island, just 6.5mls around the circular road. The cottage is just 2.3mls on the north circular route from the main road linking North Uist and Benbecula.

Causeways, built in the 1960s, link many of these islands and they are a lifeline, as before they were built, the journey by boat was often an arduous one.

Nowadays, simply take the Calmac ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, the closest ferry port, or from Mallaig to Lochboisdale. Alternatively fly direct from Glasgow to Benbecula, 8mls away.

Please ensure you make travel arrangements early as ferries book up quickly. Flights are twice daily in the summer.

Benbecula and Lochmaddy both have supermarkets, various shops, bank, petrol station, surgery/hospital and several hotels and bars.
